“I have set off my lovely,” Seb’s message comes through at 12.07pm today. “But will still be a while. May miss the start of the tennis. See you in a bit.”
He is coming to see me. And am here in front of my television so it doesn’t matter when he arrives.
“Yay! Can’t wait to see you. Am fully occupied watching the Ladies’ Wheelchair Doubles. See you soon,” I reply. Also am consuming The Omelette. Am happy.
Earlier, was in my off licence and bought a bottle of champagne which is waiting in the fridge so we can celebrate Seb’s exam results.
There are things that need doing:
1. Washing up from today. And even from yesterday.
3. Putting away washing and airer.
4. Tidying up.
Look: here is Boris Becker. Somehow it is thirty years since his famous 1985 victory. Thirty years! Look at him: six foot three, seventeen years old, that mop of orange hair, throwing himself around the court. Can it really be that long ago, I think. Remember it as if it were yesterday. Was six years old.
Really, what would be nice is for Boris and Novak to play a doubles match against Stefan and Roger. Wonder if Boris and Stefan want to get out on the court instead of their young protégées, or if they are in fact happy to be sitting on the bench.
So, here we are. Wimbledon Men’s Finals Day. And I think back to this day over the years and…oh look: here’s Goran. Cuddle to him.
“Roger Federer is the biggest magician on the court,” Goran says.
Come on Roger!
Ah hello Andy Roddick and John McEnroe. Had better give them my full attention.
“It just couldn’t be a better final,” Sue Barker says as they warm up.
Have achieved both bath and putting away washing and airer. Now to clean lenses.
Attached photo is road resurfacing monster. He is sleeping on road near the flat.
Happy Sunday everyone!
